Residents Returning to Australia

If you are a permanent resident of Australia you need to have a valid visa in order to be able to return. The initial multiple reentry visa issued to new migrants is valid for five years. If your reentry visa has expired you will need to apply for a Resident Return visa, or if you have lost your passport with the visa in it you can apply for a replacement label.

Charges & Fees

Visa application charges are payable in the form of a single demand draft for Indian Rupees, in favour ofthe ‘Australian High Commission, New Delhi’ only. A currency converter is also provided at this link to assist you to convert the current fee in Australian dollars to Indian Rupees.

Application charges can be paid at the service delivery partner’s Visa application centres . A service fee is also charged by the service delivery partner for each application lodged through a Visa application centre. Please note that fees and charges are non-refundable, even if applications are withdrawn or refused.

The average processing time for a resident return visa is 2 weeks.

Processing times for applications may vary according to workload and season.

Delays in processing may occur where:

• the application form is not properly completed
• all the requested documents are not submitted
• medical examinations are required or referred to Australia for clearance
• applicants are requested to provide further documentation or attend an interview
• you have previously been refused a visa.
